District 12 Inner Wheel

Unfortunately due to industrial action at the port of Dover which prevented traffic passing, Club Officers' Assembly 2016 had to be cancelled.

Club Officers' Assembly 2015

On 29th July 2015, members of the club executives of all clubs in the District were invited to attend the assembly, held at Hartsdown Academy, Margate. The meeting was chaired by District Chairman Hazel Hedges, who welcomed the members, some of whom had suffered the problems of 'Operation Stack' in order to get there.

Angela Norman, the President of Westgate & Birchington Inner Wheel Club, the DC's club, welcomed the members to the 'Isle of Thanet'. She explained that it was not really an island any more, but had been before the river Wantsum silted up and became un-navigable. Westgate & Birchington is one of four Inner Wheel clubs in Thanet, and the four clubs work closely together. Each club invites the other three clubs to a Joint Thanet Clubs meeting once during the year, and they try to support each others' events.

Hazel introduced the Executive team, three of whom are new to the office, Liz Evans, Secretary, Shirley Blackman, Treasurer, and Member of Council, Sheila Cragg.

There was next a presentation from Stuart Brown and Paula Monaghan of 'Sing For Your Life', the charity chosen by DC Hazel for this year. (See the Charity Chosen by the District Chairman) Stuart explained the principle behind the Music Box and why it is so important for elderly people's well being and health, and then all the audience were invited to join in with singing, using the Music Box.

DC Hazel launched a Prize Draw in aid of 'Sing For Your Life' with 1st prize of a Luxury Hamper and 2nd prize of a case of 12 bottles of French wine. Notelets are also on sale, made from the winning photographs from the Photography Competition held last year. All profits go towards the DC's charity.

After lunch, the members split up into their Peer groups for individual seminars. At the end of the session, the Executive made their reports and after some 'general housekeeping' was completed, the Assembly closed.
